■ウィリアム・フォーサイス

William Forsythe (born December 30, 1949-)

フォーサイス氏は、アメリカ合衆国出身ですがドイツを中心に活動する最も先鋭的なバレエ振付家です。モダン・バレエをdeconstructive（解体し構築）することで現在のコンテンポラリー・ダンスを作り上げた新しいダンスの牽引者の一人です。彼はダンスという身体言語を先鋭的に解釈し直して、ダンス作品の可能性を21世紀につなげています。彼の活動には今も目が離せません。

Mr. Forsythe is from the United States, and is the most radical ballet choreographer, active in Germany. He is one of new dance leaders who achieved current contemporary dance by deconstructing modern ballet. He radically re-interpreted dance as a physical language to expand the possibilities of dance pieces in the 21 century. We still need to keep a watchful eye on his activities.

Specialized in dance aesthetics and dance history. More than 30 years have passed since he was filled with great feelings towards dance. His books include “William Forsythe’s Improvisation Technologies” (2000) under his editorship and “Le Danse dans tous ses états” (2000) co-translated, both published by Keio University Press, “Gendaiteki na rizumu no dansu shido (dance education with contemporary rhythm)” under his editorship published by Flux Publishing (2010), “Doitsu dansu no 100 nen (100 years of German dance)” (1996) under his editorship, “Furansu dansu no 100 nen (100 years of French dance)” (1998) under his editorship, and “Eikoku dansu no 100 nen (100 years of British dance)” (2000) under his editorship.

■アントニー・リッチー

Antony Rizzi (born July 29,1965-)

ボストン生まれで、ボストン・バレエで学ぶ。20歳の時にフランクフルト・バレエに入る。プリンシパル・ダンサーとなり、フォーサイスの振付アシスタントとしても19年間働く。シルヴィ・ギエムが踊ったロイヤル・バレエのための『Firstext』でフォーサイスとともに振付をする。今もパフォーミングしており、ヤン・ファーブルともたびたび仕事をしている。舞台の演出や振付だけでなく、ヴィジュアル・アーティストでもある。彼のパフォーミング・グループMoving Productions and Bad Habitsは世界中で彼の作品を上演しており、2010年にはさいたま芸術劇場で『Every Body Tells a Story』を上演している。

Mr Rizzi is from Boston. where he trained at The Boston Ballet . At the age of 20 he joined the Franfkurt Ballet where he was principal dancer and choreographic assistant to Mr Forsythe for 19 years. He cochoreogrpahed Firstext with Forsythe for Sylvie Guillem at the Royal Ballet in London. Rizzi is still performing, and has worked often with Jan Fabre. He is also a visual artist as well as stage director and choreographer. His performing group Moving Productions and Bad Habits has performed his works around the world. Including a showing of Every Body Tells a Story in Saitama in 2010.

Thom Willems (born in 1955, in Arnhem, Holland)

トム・ウィレムは1977 年から1982年まで、デン・ハーグの王立音楽学校で電子音楽や作曲を学んだ。1984年、フォーサイスがフランクフルト・オペラ・バレエの芸術監督に就任して以来、共同作業をして、彼のほとんどの作品に音楽を提供している。1987年にパリ・オペラ座バレエが初演したIn the Middle, Somewhat Elevated も彼の作曲である。 1980年代までには、ウィレムは作曲にあたって、コンピュータ・テクノロジーを駆使して、リズムを重視した彼のスタイルを確立している。2006年からはLe CaméléonPhilharmonique.のレジデント作曲家でもある。

Between 1977 and 1982 at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag, Thom Willems studied electronic music and composition. Since 1984 when Forsythe was appointed as an artistic director of Frankfurt Opera Ballet, he has worked with Forsythe to compose musics for most of his choreographies. One of his compositions was In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated premiered by Paris Opera Ballet.By 1980s, Willems established his way of composition which focused on rhythm using computer technology.He has been a resident composer for Le CaméléonPhilharmonique since 2006.
